Series of studies on Richard II at Shakespeare's Globe 2003

THE WORK IS ABOUT:
- the stillness within repeated patterns of movement
- a reference to detail of costume, anatomy without formal depiction of it
- breaking up the solid forms with strong marks as movement does to our view of people within space
- reflecting changing and temporary states yet seeking permanence
- the trance like element of repeated movement within devotional ritual in India, warm up exercise for dancers in the West etc
- a response to how performance disturbs and enriches life

Part of study in India has been the South Indian dance form Bharata Natyam.

This has involved travel to Mamallapuram to watch and film the dance festival and working with an Indian dancer in this country
(see India page)

Based on Michael Clark, Current/See

The project started with study of contemporary dancers in England

Brighton based dancer Laurie  Booth

It went on to be a collaboration on a performance with contemporary dancer Kate Lawrence
